An extraordinary antique bronze clock and writing desk set, created as an elaborate combination of functional objects and sculptural decorative art.
At the centre of the composition, a beautifully modelled gilt figure raises a distinctive spherical clock with Roman numeral hour markers. The dynamic pose and flowing sculptural details give the piece a strong sense of movement, while contrasting bronze and gilt finishes emphasize its intricate modelling.
The lower composition incorporates inkwells and a pen holder, reflecting the traditional art of writing with pen and ink. Rather than treating these elements as simple desk accessories, the maker has integrated them into an elaborate sculptural scene, transforming the entire ensemble into a statement piece.
With its unusual combination of clock, figural bronze sculpture, and writing accessories, this piece offers both decorative presence and historical character. An impressive addition to a collection of antique clocks, European decorative arts, or fine writing desk accessories.
